Jason has started and grown a number of businesses in Australia and brings a wealth of business knowledge across many facets of the business world. Jason now resides on the East Coast of Tasmania and is passionate in helping to drive and develop the hospitality and tourism sectors in the region to help the area grow and prosper.

Greg Ross

Greg began his tourism career at 17 as a concierge in Sydney following a period of time living in Japan. He soon entered aviation tourism, working as a tour guide with Sydney Heli Tours and later on Hamilton Island.

Eat Local, Stay Local voucher program launched

The Tasmanian Government has launched a new voucher program to drive intrastate travel this winter, with 100,000 vouchers valued at $100 available to Tasmanians for eligible accommodation, hospitality and experiences.

Registrations for the Eat Local, Stay Local program are now open! Tourism businesses do not need to register for the program and do not accept the vouchers. Voucher recipients will make their purchase as a normal transaction and use the receipt to claim their reimbursement through the Department of State Growth, which is overseeing the initiative.
Read the program FAQs for more details.

The Off Season 2025 - Winternships

Winter Just Got A Whole Lot Cooler

Introducing Winternships

Tourism Tasmania has collaborated with tourism operators in each region to design 10 ‘Winternships’, or Winter Internships, based on their Off Season offer.

From baby-sitting Tasmanian devils to skippering a floating sauna, and our very own East Coast "Fragrance Forager" there’s a unique winter experience for every visitor.

To amplify the initiative across earned and social media, Tourism Tasmania recruited comedian, writer and actor, Celia Pacquola to take on a series of Winternships to demonstrate what it really means to become a ‘winter person’.  Learn more here.

TICT Insurance Survey

Tourism operators across the state have been saying for some time that the cost and accessibility of insurance is impacting their businesses. TICT is working with Dr Allison Anderson from episteme Consulting to better understand the challenges for industry around insurance and to start working on possible ways to improve the situation.  Completing this survey will help us see where the real issues lie – and the more responses we collect, the more powerful the insights will be. Please share with any operators in the visitor economy.  All responses are strictly confidential.

Tasmania to become start-up capital of Australia - Red Tape Reduction

The Tasmanian Government is committed to cutting red tape and making Tasmania one of the best places in Australia in which to do business. “Red tape” is usually defined as excessive or unnecessary complexity, regulations, processes and bureaucracy that results in delays or inaction.

It includes a situation where a business or member of the community needs government permission to do something – usually in the form of a permit or approval – and that permission is unreasonable, heavy-handed, slow or outdated. View the portal and report any challenges you have experienced.

The Tasmanian tourism industry acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
