ECTT Winter Tourism Famil 2025

Last weekend, the East Coast came alive as we welcomed 35 visitor economy professionals from across Tasmania for our secondECTT Winter Tourism Famil Program. Guests included representatives from the Tasmanian Visitor Information Network, Tourism Tasmania, Hospitality Tasmania, and the TICT— all here to experience first-hand the stories, operators, and landscapes that make our region shine in winter.
Over two days, the group explored Coles Bay and surrounds, connecting with more than 30 East Coast operators. From marine farms and vineyards to guided walks, penguin tours, and iconic lodges, participants were immersed in authentic local experiences and discovered the warmth of our community even in the cooler months.
A highlight was the Winter Tourism Expo & Networking Evening at Freycinet Lodge, where operators had the chance to showcase their businesses, share tastings, and build relationships directly with frontline staff who influence visitor journeys every day. The energy in the room was inspiring — a true celebration of connection and collaboration.
Please mark your calendar for the East Coast Tasmania Tourism (ECTT) Annual General Meeting, followed by our Industry Recognition Awards for Accessibility & Inclusivity.
Date: Thursday, 16 October 2025 Time: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM Venue: White Sands Estate
Stay tuned for the official invite with more event details, including RSVP, agenda, and guest speakers.

Tourism Tasmania Masterclasses – Coming This Spring
Tourism Tasmania is hosting a series of free Masterclasses around the state this spring, designed to give operators practical insights and tools to strengthen their business.
Each workshop will explore current industry trends, practical applications, and strategies to help Tasmanian operators remain competitive in a rapidly evolving tourism landscape.
Eat Local, Stay Local has launched, encouraging Tasmanians to support tourism and hospitality through the off-season and shoulder period.
Successful voucher recipients will be notified this week and have until 30 November 2025 to pay for and complete an eligible activity. Businesses do not need to register or process vouchers — recipients purchase as normal and claim reimbursement from the Department of State Growth with a receipt.

The Tasmanian tourism industry acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
