There's plenty for the East Coast to celebrate, with Bicheno recently named Australia's number one town in Australian Traveller's 100 Best Towns in Australia to Travel To 2026. It's a fantastic recognition for a community that continues to deliver outstanding visitor experiences and contribute strongly to Tasmania's visitor economy.
For those of us who live and work here, it's no surprise. Bicheno's appeal comes from more than its beautiful coastline and wildlife. It's the local businesses, volunteers, producers, community groups and residents who help create the welcoming character that visitors remember long after they've gone home.
This award is a great result for Bicheno and recognition of the effort that goes into making the town a great place to live, work and visit. Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in its success.
Developed in collaboration with Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, industry and community stakeholders, the project has produced a prioritised Marine Precinct Infrastructure Blueprint and supporting Background Document. Together, these documents identify key infrastructure opportunities and provide a clear direction for future investment in Triabunna's port and waterfront precinct.
With the planning work now complete, ECTT will continue working closely with Council and stakeholders to advocate for funding and investment opportunities that can help bring these priorities to life.

Wineglass Bay UK Wanderlust Front Page
Wineglass Bay has been featured on the front cover of the latest edition of Wanderlust, one of the United Kingdom's leading travel magazines.
The publication's Antipodes Special includes a 14-page feature on Tasmania, highlighting destinations, experiences, food and wine from across the state. Earlier this year, Tourism Tasmania hosted Wanderlust Editor-in-Chief George Kipouros on a famil program that included the East Coast. The resulting feature showcases a range of Tasmanian visitor experiences and provides valuable exposure in an important international market.
We might be a little biased, but we think Wineglass Bay looks right at home on the cover. It's also great to see the article showcase a wide range of experiences from around Tasmania.

The Tasmanian tourism industry acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
